Givers post wood they want collected — usually logs from recently felled or pruned trees. Collectors browse nearby listings and arrange collection directly through the app. There is no charge for posting or collecting.
What “free firewood” usually means
Most free logs in the UK are unseasoned (freshly cut). They need drying — typically 12–24 months of air-drying in a ventilated log store — before they are ready to burn efficiently. Some listings offer seasoned offcuts or demolition timber, but assume you will need to season wood yourself unless stated otherwise.
You normally collect the wood yourself, with your own vehicle. Most listings are already cut, stacked, and left somewhere easy to reach — gloves and a sensible car or van are usually enough. Extra tools are the exception, not the default; check the photos and notes before you travel.
